Irina PINCHUK

Iryna Pinchuk is a renowned psychiatrist and mental health researcher, Doctor of Medicine, Professor, Director of the Institute of Psychiatry at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, President of the Association of Psychiatrists of Ukraine.

Her research focuses on topical issues of social psychiatry, as well as on reforming the mental healthcare system of Ukraine using the best international practices. She is the author of more than 150 scientific papers, including articles published in English in journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, and she has a personal profile in one of the most prestigious professional journals, The Lancet Psychiatry.

Iryna Pinchuk successfully combines scientific and clinical activities in the field of psychiatry: she held the positions of Chief Physician of a psychoneurological hospital, Chief Freelance Specialist in Psychiatry at the Healthcare Department of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, Chief Psychiatrist at the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Director of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Social and Forensic Psychiatry at the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

She has led numerous research projects funded by the National Research Foundation of Ukraine and international organisations (USAID, SAMHSA, PEPFAR, etc.). In 2020-2024, Iryna Pinchuk participated in more than 10 field studies (all-Ukrainian surveys, focus group interviews) on mental health of different population groups in Ukraine, which resulted in the development of policy recommendations for the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, National Health Service of Ukraine, State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Health, Medical Assistance and Health Insurance.
